Simply Snow

As I write the fog is rolling down the road, everything is wet and the snow is slowly but surely melting away. That doesn’t mean we won’t have 30cm by the time we go to bed tonight but it sure is nice to think of spring coming. This photo was taken just a few days ago when we woke to new fallen snow, A LOT of new fallen snow. While my husband toyed with the possibility of walking to work instead of snowblowing I donned my gear and went outside. By 8am I had already accomplished a photo shoot. Needless to say I’m not sure that has ever happened to me before. I had something else I wanted to post that day so I saved my snow photos till now.
Again I will talk about my weaknesses. As I not a self proclaimed scenic photographer I have always steered clear of snow…it’s a hard one to expose properly. This was really just an experiment. I’ll probably still have lots of opportunity to practice in 2008.

I think that I will have to read up on exposure and tell you what I learn.

I just have to make a statement. I REALLY don’t like this photo.

You’re funny. Though it may not be your favorite shot, I think you did a good job of exposing the whites probably while still maintaining details in the shadows – something I can’t do well!
