F and T
Today’s post title ‘F and T’ is the name of my dad’s newest addtion to his boat collection (Say that name really fast and it’s quite interesting). Just to be clear, my dad only currently owns four boats: 2 fishing boats, 1 small motor boat, and 1 dingy with a motor. My parents sold their little pleasure boat last season so this year we haven’t much of an option for pleasure boating. Since the little motor boat isn’t all that comfortable for a crowd my dad decided to send out for his crew to dock the ’FnT’ in his ‘front’ yard. He hosed it all down and we took it out for a day. Might not be a yauht but she sure is comfortable and it was a real treat for my four year old.
Upon our return the wind had picked up. Docking was not so easy with a two man crew (the two littlest crew members were fast asleep, photos to come later). I took some photos in order to document the event of dad’s crew bringing the boat in. It was momentous simply because of where they had to dock it.

Disclaimer: Don’t try this at home. Actually, it’s a lot of fun. Be sure to pick up the non-tobacco tobacco! It’s the subtle sweet flavors that make it enjoyable.
So a few nights ago my brother in law brought his very new Hookah, some call it Shisha…we like to call it the ‘Hubbly Bubbly’… to our house. My brother in law spent a lot of time in the Middle East as he worked there for 8 years. My sister tells me he dearly missed the Hubbly Bubbly so she got him one on her last trip out west. Now she’s ordered a pink one for ‘the girls’.
As Wikipedia states a Hookah is: a single or multi-stemmed (often glass-based) water pipe for smoking. Originally from India, it has gained popularity, especially in the Arab world, particularly under the Ottoman Empire. A hookah operates by water filtration and indirect heat. It can be used for smoking herbal fruits.

Above photo by Lori Moss. I had to put it up because I this is my husband and I never get this great a photo of him.

Above photo by Lori Moss. In case you’re wondering, that’s me. I’ve never been a smoker so the blowing smoke photos of me were pitiful.
O Happy Day!

Just a few years ago today my mother came into the world a screaming little baby!! And as my grandmother tells it, she screamed for quite a few years after! But we never heard that story till we were all grown up!! My mother is the second child of three girls. She grew up in a quaint little town called Happy Adventure in the province of Newfoundland. Her childhood was spent in the same town as mine was to be and only a five minute walk up the road from where my memories are.
I couldn’t ask for a better mother, a mother who’s prayers reached from one ocean to another and who’s love circles the world many times over. Her gift as a mother was to teach her children to take every opportunity and life live fully each day. She showed us the love of the Lord and that in Him all things are possible and He would be our strength. She never tried to hold us back from what we wanted to do because she was afraid of losing us or that we might live too far away. She trained our wings and let us fly. If my grandmother were still alive I would thank her today for giving me my mom. As a mom myself I have a lot to live up to and to be thankful for…especially her exquisite skin that I fear only was passed to my sister.
Happy Birthday Mom!! Wish I could be there, instead I will see you in a few days.
ps. I can’t take credit for the above photo since it was taken in 1972. It is my favorite photo of mom and dad together in their youth…a lifetime ahead of them
